Divemaster Apprenticeship Prerequisites
- PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent from another agency)
- Minimum 40 logged dives
- 18 years of age (15 years for Junior Divemaster)
- Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months.

What's the difference between a standard Divemaster course and the Apprenticeship?
A standard Divemaster course gets you certified. Our Apprenticeship is a longer, deeper internship with sustained mentorship, real teaching experience, and preparation for a career in diving, not just a certification card.
What are the prerequisites for the Divemaster Apprenticeship?
You’ll need a PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent), be at least 18 years old, have 40+ logged dives, and current CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Don’t have your EFR (Emergency First Response) certification yet? Columbus Scuba can help you get certified before you begin the apprenticeship.
How long does the apprenticeship take?
